Cleaning / Heat Scale and Rust Removal.
Continuous Operation.
SURFEX® designs and manufactures the Roller Conveyor Type Shot Blasting Machine (Continuous Type) for Plates Cleaning.
The jobs (plates) are loaded on the inward side of the roller conveyor arrangement. The jobs are passed through an inward tunnel of the shot blasting machine and enter the blasting chamber for blasting purpose. Suitable number “Surfex” advanced blast wheel stations (At the top & At the bottom of the plate) are located strategically on the cabinet, which fires blasting abrasive media on the plate. The plates are shot blast homogeneously all around. The blasted plate moves forward, & enters the outlet tunnel, and further moves to the conveyor at the outlet side for job unloading.
SURFEX® equipment includes a fully automatic Dust Collection System to remove dust and fines from the blast cabinet.

Surfex designs and builds high-performance airless shot blasting machines — wheel blast systems engineered for continuous industrial cleaning, descaling, deburring and surface preparation of castings, forgings, structural steel and automotive components, supplied across India and exported worldwide.
Surfex, part of Surface Finishing Equipment Co. (SFEC India), is a leading airless shot blasting machine manufacturer and airless shot blasting equipment manufacturer serving foundries, forging units, structural fabricators and automotive component makers. Every machine is built around advanced centrifugal wheel blast technology, delivering consistent, high-velocity abrasive coverage without the compressed-air running costs of nozzle-type systems.
As a dependable airless shot blasting machine supplier, Surfex manufactures a complete family of configurations — tumblast, hanger, table, rotary table and conveyor type — each engineered for a specific component size, shape and production volume. Our in-house design, fabrication and testing facility allows us to customise chamber size, wheel count, abrasive throughput and automation level to match the exact process requirement of the customer, whether that customer is a mid-size foundry in India or an export client sourcing an airless shot blast machine for a new production line overseas.
Surfex machines are recognised among airless shot blasting machine manufacturers for their heavy manganese-steel wear parts, precision-balanced blast wheels, and fully automatic dust collection systems that keep the work environment clean and compliant. Combined with responsive after-sales support — spares, commissioning assistance and technical guidance — Surfex has become the preferred airless shot blasting equipment partner for manufacturers who need dependable, long-service-life surface preparation systems rather than a one-time equipment sale.
Our engineering team works directly with plant managers and process engineers from the very first enquiry, reviewing component drawings, target cycle times and existing shop-floor layout before recommending a machine. This consultative approach is why repeat orders and referrals make up a large share of our business — customers who buy one airless shot blasting machine for a single production line frequently return to Surfex for their next line, their next plant, or a new component family entirely, because the equipment keeps performing at the same level year after year.
An airless shot blasting machine, also known as a wheel blast machine or wheel blasting machine, cleans and strengthens metal surfaces by mechanically flinging abrasive media at high velocity using rotating turbine wheels — instead of relying on compressed air, as air-operated nozzle blasting systems do. Because the abrasive is thrown mechanically rather than propelled by air, an airless shot blast machine is dramatically more energy-efficient for continuous or high-volume production blasting.
This is why the terms wheel blast machine, wheel blasting equipment and centrifugal wheel blast machine are often used interchangeably with "airless shot blasting machine" across the surface-preparation industry — they all describe the same core technology: an electrically driven bladed wheel that accelerates steel shot, steel grit, or other abrasive media onto the component surface to remove rust, mill scale, sand, oxide layers and old coatings, or to induce beneficial compressive stress on the surface.
A typical wheel shot blasting machine installation includes the blast cabinet, one or more blast wheel units, an abrasive recovery and separation system, an elevator/conveyor to recirculate the media, and a dust collection system. Surfex configures each wheel blast system around the part geometry — from small fasteners tumbling through a compact chamber to large structural beams passing through a continuous roller-conveyor tunnel — so that every surface receives even, repeatable blast coverage.
Manufacturers usually move to an airless shot blasting machine when compressed-air blasting can no longer keep pace with production volume, when finish consistency starts affecting coating quality, or when the ongoing cost of compressor maintenance and electricity begins to outweigh the price of a dedicated wheel-blast cabinet. In each case, the underlying goal is the same: remove rust, scale, sand or old coating quickly and repeatably, without operator fatigue or finish variation between batches.
Each Surfex blast wheel unit uses a motor-driven impeller that feeds a controlled stream of abrasive onto a high-speed rotating bladed wheel. Centrifugal force accelerates the media to velocities that far exceed what compressed air alone can achieve economically, and a control cage directs the resulting blast pattern precisely onto the component surface.
Because the process is purely mechanical, an airless shot blasting machine consumes only electrical power for the wheel motor — there is no compressor, no air dryer, and no leakage loss, which is the single biggest reason plants replace old air-operated set-ups with a wheel blast machine manufacturer-built system. Blades and control cages are manufactured from wear-resistant, heat-treated alloy steel, giving the wheel blasting equipment a long service interval even under continuous three-shift operation.
Surfex engineers the wheel count, wheel placement and rotation direction of every centrifugal wheel blast machine around the actual part profile — top-and-bottom firing for flat plates, all-round firing for hangable components, and radial firing for tumbling barrels — so that shadowed areas are eliminated and blast coverage stays uniform from the first job of the shift to the last.
Related surface-finishing technology, including our shot peening machine and robotic shot peening machine ranges, uses the same core wheel-blast principle but is tuned for controlled compressive-stress peening rather than aggressive cleaning — useful context if your process needs fatigue-life improvement in addition to surface preparation.
From foundries in India to export customers in the Middle East, Europe and North America, buyers choose Surfex as their airless shot blasting machine manufacturer for the same core reasons: dependable engineering, transparent communication through the entire buying process, and a machine that keeps performing long after the sale is closed.

Most buyers researching an airless shot blasting machine are comparing it against air-operated (nozzle) blasting cabinets. Both remove rust, scale and contaminants, but the underlying mechanics, running cost and ideal use case are very different, and choosing the wrong category is the most common mistake first-time buyers make.
Abrasive is thrown mechanically by a rotating turbine wheel. Best suited to continuous or high-volume production where the same component profile repeats — castings, forgings, plates, structural sections and automotive parts. Running cost is low because there is no compressor, and throughput per hour is significantly higher than nozzle blasting.
Abrasive is propelled using compressed air through a handheld or fixed nozzle. Best suited to low-volume, selective, or intricate blasting where an operator needs manual control — touch-up work, awkward internal surfaces, or short production runs where a dedicated wheel-blast cabinet is not justified.
As a manufacturer of both categories, Surfex typically recommends an airless shot blasting machine whenever a customer is processing repeat components in batches of a few hundred pieces or more per shift, since the wheel-blast route pays back its slightly higher upfront cost within a short period through lower electricity, media and labour cost per part. For lower-volume or highly variable jobs, a hybrid approach — an airless machine for bulk cleaning plus a small air-operated cabinet for touch-up — is often the most economical answer, and our engineers are happy to lay out both options during the quotation stage.
Surfex manufactures the complete family of industrial airless shot blasting machine configurations, so you can select the exact chamber design your parts and production volume require.
Ideal for small to medium loose components — castings, forgings, fasteners and stampings — tumbled through the blast stream for fast, uniform batch cleaning.
Components are hung on rotating hooks or a spinner hanger for full 360° blast coverage — suited to complex castings, forgings and welded assemblies.
A rotating table carries heavy or bulky parts through the blast zone, giving precise, repeatable coverage for large castings and fabricated components.
A roller or belt conveyor moves plates, sections and structural steel through the blast chamber for continuous, high-throughput surface preparation.
Combines a rotating turntable inside the cabinet with hanger capability, letting one machine blast both hangable and non-hangable components.
PLC-controlled loading, blasting cycle and unloading for plants that need consistent output with minimal manual intervention.
Every configuration is available as an automated airless shot blasting machine with PLC controls, or as a manually cycled unit for lower-volume operations — Surfex will recommend the right build after reviewing your component drawing and target cycle time.
Selecting the correct industrial airless shot blasting machine comes down to four questions: What is the shape of the component — loose, hangable, flat, or long? What is the required daily throughput? Is full automation needed, or is a manually loaded cycle acceptable for the current volume? And what abrasive grade and surface finish (Ra value) does the downstream coating or inspection process demand?
A fastener or small-casting producer moving thousands of loose parts per shift will typically choose an airless tumblast shot blasting machine for its fast, continuous batch cycle. A job-shop cleaning complex, low-volume castings usually prefers an airless hanger shot blasting machine for full-coverage flexibility. Plate and structural fabricators processing long, flat or profiled sections are almost always better served by an airless conveyor shot blasting machine, since it allows continuous in-line processing without repeated loading and unloading. Surfex engineers review your component drawing and monthly volume free of charge before recommending a configuration, so you invest in the machine that actually fits your process — not an oversized or undersized standard model.
The abrasive media you run through a wheel blast machine has as much influence on the final surface finish as the machine itself, and Surfex helps customers select the right grade for their material and finish requirement.
Round, work-hardened steel media that cleans and lightly peens the surface. Common for general descaling and surface conditioning ahead of coating.
Angular steel media that cuts more aggressively, giving a rougher anchor profile — often specified for heavy-duty descaling and paint-adhesion prep.
Cylindrical, highly durable media producing an even, controlled finish with minimal dust generation and long media life.
Surfex sizes the abrasive recovery, screening and elevator system of every airless shot blast machine to match the chosen media type and consumption rate, so abrasive stays clean, classified and ready for reuse — reducing both media cost and downtime for manual screen changes.
Plants that switch from air-operated blasting or outsourced surface preparation to an in-house airless shot blasting machine typically see the payback within one to two years, driven by a combination of lower running cost and faster throughput.
Mechanical wheel-throw eliminates the compressor load that drives up per-hour running cost in nozzle-type blasting systems, cutting energy spend significantly on high-volume lines.
Multiple blast wheels firing simultaneously clean far more surface area per minute than a single compressed-air nozzle, shortening cycle time on repeat components.
A fixed wheel geometry and control cage deliver the same blast pattern job after job, removing the finish variation that comes with manual nozzle operation.
Automatic loading, blasting and unloading cycles on an automated airless shot blasting machine free operators for higher-value tasks elsewhere on the floor.
A clean, correctly profiled surface improves paint, powder-coat and galvanising adhesion, reducing downstream rework and coating failures.
Compressive surface stress from controlled blasting can improve fatigue resistance on critical structural and automotive components.
Surfex airless shot blasting equipment is deployed across every industry that needs consistent, high-volume surface preparation. From single-shift job shops to multi-line export manufacturers, the same wheel-blast principle is adapted to a wide range of materials, part sizes and finish specifications, which is why our customer base spans foundries, forge shops, automotive tier suppliers, structural steel fabricators and heat-treatment plants alike.
Foundries and forge shops use our machines to strip sand, scale and oxide from castings and forgings before machining, coating or inspection — a core reason Surfex is recognised among airless shot blasting machine for foundry applications.
Automotive component manufacturers rely on tumblast and hanger-type machines to clean and finish brackets, housings, gears and chassis parts to a consistent surface profile before painting or plating.
Conveyor and roller-type systems handle plates, beams, channels and fabricated sections, making Surfex a dependable choice for airless shot blasting machine for structural steel and steel-plate cleaning lines ahead of primer coating.
Weld spatter removal, heat-scale descaling and edge deburring are among the most common process requirements our customers bring to us, and each is matched to a specific wheel configuration and abrasive grade for optimum results.
These are the components engineers ask about most often before finalising an order, and each one is specified to the customer's material and abrasive combination rather than fitted as a generic default.

An airless shot blasting machine, also called a wheel blast machine, uses a motor-driven rotating wheel to mechanically fling abrasive media at high velocity onto a component's surface. Because no compressed air is used, it is more energy-efficient than air-operated nozzle blasting for continuous, high-volume cleaning, descaling and surface preparation.
Surfex is a leading airless shot blasting machine manufacturer in India, with over 47 years of experience building tumblast, hanger, table, rotary table and conveyor type wheel blast systems for foundries, forge shops and fabrication units, supplied domestically and exported to global markets.
An airless shot blasting machine throws abrasive mechanically using a rotating wheel, giving higher throughput and lower running cost for continuous production. An air-operated (nozzle) machine propels abrasive using compressed air, which offers more flexibility for selective, manual or hard-to-reach blasting but at a higher operating cost per hour.
Airless shot blasting equipment is widely used in foundry, forging, automotive component manufacturing, structural steel fabrication, heat treatment, shipbuilding and general engineering industries for cleaning, descaling, deburring and surface preparation before coating or machining.
Surfex manufactures tumblast, hanger, table, rotary table and conveyor (roller/belt) type airless shot blasting machines, available in manual or fully automatic PLC-controlled configurations, customised to the component size and production volume.
